Effective exercise is all about getting the most productive workout into the shortest amount of time. By that criteria, spinning has got to rank right up there as one of the most effective 60 minutes you can spend in the gym. Spinning is an indoor group cycling workout that teams you with powerful music to pump up the rhythm and intensity of your training.
Over the course of your hour long group cycle session, your experienced personal trainer will lead you through a course that covers flat land, hills, mountain peaks, time trials and interval training. You will burn calories like never before, at the same time giving your legs a great workout. But don’t worry if it all sounds too intense for you. Our instructors will ensure that you vary the pace and resistance so that you are working at your level.
Spin cycling is low impact, super high cardio that will allow you to get you sweat on in style. You can burn up to 900 calories in an hour, depending on how much effort you put into your session. Here are 4 reasons why spinning is something you should be doing:
The vibe and energy produced in a spin class is electric. The instructors will get you hyped up for the workout of your life, the music will vibrate to your very core, producing a rhythm within you that will push you forward and the energy from the rest of the class will drive you to smash through your training barriers.
You will be encouraged to push to the very edge of your capability, but never outside of it. Intervals will be used, where heavy periods of training ae interspersed with recovery time. And, because you control your own bike, you will be able to adjust your settings to your own requirements any time you need to.
You know that you are going to work your legs, right? But did you also know that spinning will target your glutes and hamstrings? The upper body also gets an effective workout from the various grips that you’ll be using and the tension you will placing on your arms and back as you perform upright cycling motions. Throughout your entire workout the core, which connects you upper and lower bod,y is constantly being challenged.
A 60-minute spin class will churn through up to 900 calories. That is twice as many as you’d burn by jogging on the treadmill for an hour. If you slot in four spin sessions a week, you will be burning 3600 calories from your spin sessions alone. That is more calories than are contained in a pound of fat. And that means that spin cycling may just be one of the most effective fat burning workouts out there.
Arrive 15 minutes early to your first class – this will allow you to get special attention from your instructor. She will be able to help you to custom set up your cycle. Make note of the adjustments made so that you can do them yourself next time.
First and foremost, you can expect to sweat. You can also expect that you will start cycling in a seated position. At some stage during the class, the instructor is going to have you stand up in the pedals. You will do this by keeping your feet in the pedals but lifting yourself off the seat. You will use the handlebars and pedals to intensify your ride in different ways.
There are several different riding positions that the instructor will demonstrate and explain during class. You will be asked to challenge yourself by adding resistance. There will also be thumping music and high-octane energy.
Keep in mind that even though you are training in a group setting with spin, you are the person in control of your workout. You are determining the pedal cadence and the resistance level of your cycle. The instructor will encourage you to push hard and get outside your comfort zone.
Spin cycling is very safe. You will be on a stationary bike. That means that you won’t fall off. There is no impact on your joints. You also have no reason to be intimidated. You’ll soon discover just how encouraging and helpful your fellow spinners are. You’ll see people of all age groups, body shapes and fitness levels. There will be veterans along with newbies like yourself. So, don’t worry about the person alongside you. Just focus on getting the very best workout that you are capable of getting.
Once the spin class is over, you will most likely have a different feeling to your other workouts. This will be a whole new stimulus for you that can help to crank your metabolism to achieve even better results.
