Honestly, self defense is an often overlooked benefit of a group fitness class like BodyCombat, but it’s important, and it bears mentioning.
Having a basic knowledge of self defense and how to protect yourself in a dangerous situation is crucial, for both men and women. Like with other martial arts disciplines, the point isn’t to exert power over others, but rather to know how to defend yourself should the worst come to fruition. Knowing when to use your knowledge and when not to is just as important as anything.
While BodyCombat isn’t technically a self defense class, having a baseline knowledge of martial arts provides a solid foundation to build upon, and for those looking to delve further into the subject matter, having that pre-requisite knowledge makes the learning process that much easier.
