Insurance coverage for physical therapy
Most physical therapy programs are covered by insurance. Check with your healthcare provider and insurance company if you have access to certain types of physical therapy treatments. Accessing physical therapy programs is your primary care choice. You do need to access the intervention and prevention care in a timely manner to avoid the side effects in taking more drugs for muscle relaxants and pain.
Benefits of physical therapy
One study published in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry reported that timely individualized physical therapy or physical rehabilitation program is effective in reducing disability and pain. Physical therapy programs may include patient education about the illness besides the intensive treatment. Patient education could facilitate recovery and mobility. Patients who chose standard care often showed overall independence especially moving, walking, and self-care. Physical therapy is crucial in maximizing the improvement in muscle strength, overcoming stiffness, and improving overall functioning. The goal of the therapy is to improve the range of motion and reflexes of the joints.
